Battery Care
Batteries are the power source of your mobility equipment and need to be properly maintained. There are many types and sizes of battery available for your equipment. Some old equipment may use 'wet' batteries which may require topping up regularly. New equipment uses 'gel' or 'AGM' batteries which do not require topping up. They also use a different type of charger to that of 'wet' batteries.
At the Centre we can help maintain your batteries and test them for you (normally done annually) using an 'electronic discharge tester'. This piece of equipment will check the capacity of the batteries and check for faults. The results are then downloaded onto our computer which will print a report for each of your batteries.
Please refer to our "Useful Service / Repair links" for various battery suppliers' own guidelines for battery maintenance. Please note: refer to the equipment owners' user guide for the correct charging instructions for your battery.
