Adaptations assessment
We encourage clients who require their vehicle to be adapted to have an assessment. There is a wide range of adaptations available from various manufacturers and we prefer to assess the most suitable type for clients' individual requirements. If you have previously had an assessment with the Centre and simply wish to transfer any existing adaptations to an alternative vehicle, there is usually no requirement to have an adaptations assessment, provided your personal circumstances have not changed.
The Centre has a range of vehicles available fitted with various adaptations for demonstration and instruction purposes.
We have a team of Adaptations Technicians who are able to fit the following types of adaptations:
- PRIMARY AND SECONDARY CONTROL ADAPTATIONS
- STOWAGE SOLUTIONS FOR MOBILITY EQUIPMENT
- ACCESS SOLUTIONS TO ASSIST A DRIVER OR PASSENGER TO GET INTO AND OUT OF A VEHICLE
Prior to the collection of your adapted vehicle, we recommend tuition in a Centre vehicle using similar controls to ensure you are able to operate the adaptations safely and competently.
Should you need to obtain an alternative or new vehicle, our Adaptations Technicians are able to advise and recommend suitable alternative vehicle types.
We are also able to service and repair adaptations.
Clients are advised they have an obligation to inform their insurance company and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency of any adaptations that have been fitted to their vehicle.
